Committee of Space Research - COSPAR 2026
Florence, Italy
1st - 9th August 2026
COSPAR (Committee on Space Research) is a committee established by the International Science Council to promote scientific research in space at the international level. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the free exchange of results, information, and opinions among researchers worldwide. It provides a forum open to all scientists for discussing the issues and challenges that may affect space research.
To achieve these objectives, its activities focus on organizing major scientific conferences and publishing specialized journals. This year, the 46th scientific assembly will be held in Florence, hosted by the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF).
The central theme of this edition is “Sustainable space research for the planet.” The program includes meetings and sessions covering all the main COSPAR Commissions and Panels, in particular:
- Climate, meteorology, and the study of the Earth-Moon system and other bodies in the Solar System.
- Deep space research and space plasmas.
- The effects of space on living organisms and the behavior of materials in microgravity.
Special sessions will be dedicated to Space Weather, small satellite constellations, artificial intelligence applied to space data, and Planetary Protection (protection of planets from biological contamination).
The event is sponsored by CISAS.
